Love Lost

updated her journal about the love contest or whatever, and I wanted to join, despite the contest having been up for lord-knows-how-long already.

And this popped into my head.

And I finished it 6 hours later. Not that it was rushed, I was just really focused on it. .-.;

This is based off of a short story I wrote last year, which was somewhat based off of the quote "It's better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all."

If I post the short story anywhere, I'll link it.

The lineart for the girl in the back is the original sketch, because I wanted it to be obvious that she isn't there, he just missed her greatly. Same reason her colors are faded and smeared, etc. Wasn't because I got lazy. >.>;

But I'm really proud of this. I suppose it isn't all too special background-wise or color-wise, but I like the lineart for both the guy and his now deceased wife.

I came to the idea by the fact I didn't want to do the typical, cutesy young couple pic. I considered drawing a pic of an older couple, happily married. Then this came to mind. The worst thing about getting old, to me, isn't the aches and pains, but the fact that everyone you know is starting to die, including your spouse.
